Qualified families and residents dealing with job loss and other impacts due to the recent covid-19 outbreak are eligible to receive assistance through the temporary emergency assistance for needy families program and diversionary assistance program.
A person or family participating in certain other benefit programs, such as the supplemental nutrition assistance program, supplemental security income, temporary assistance for needy families, or certain needs-tested veterans benefits may be automatically eligible.
Family assistance (fa) provides cash assistance to eligible needy families that include a minor child living with a parent (including families where both parents are in the household) or a caretaker relative.
Fa operates under federal temporary assistance for needy families (tanf) guidelines.
Under fa, eligible adults are limited to receiving benefits for a total of 60 months in their lifetime, including months of tanf-funded assistance granted in other states.
The months need not be consecutive, but rather each individual month in which tanf-funded benefits are received is included in the lifetime count.
Am I eligible for the Lifeline program?
Lifeline provides free and discounted landline and cell phone services to low-income consumers who qualify financially.
If you have been out of work or are disabled and can not afford $60 to $100 a month for a cell phone bill, you may be eligible for a free government cell phone , if you receive help from a government agency like tanf, wic or snap.
The lifeline assistance program has been around for decades and has phone providers in every state and us territory.
